Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda
Last week flew by so quickly that Thursday night found us contemplating if it was really worth it to go camping near Jackson (where we also had a wedding)...and if you know how Phil and I love camping, you know that we really were worn out and caught off guard by how quick Thursday came...but, we decided that it was indeed worth it and after a little packing Thursday night, we both rushed home Friday after work for some last minute frantic packing before taking off. We made it to the campground in plenty of time to set up before dark. Phil finally got a fire going, despite the fact that the humidity made the wood almost instantly wet and hard to burn. Sitting there enjoying the fire, we were visited by a not-so-shy raccoon who I swear would have eaten out of my hand. He circled the fire and after scrounging in our garbage, made off with the plastic wrap from the bundle of wood. Shortly after that, we felt the first drops of rain and got ready for bed. We hardly slept because of the rain, and in the morning, we were greeted with...Lake Whitsel:
Not only were we flooded...we seemed to be the ONLY ones!! After a breakfast at Bob Evans, we headed back to camp for power naps and reading. We managed to take showers before they closed the bathrooms for cleaning, but Phil had to shave with a 3"x2" mirror and a bottle of water.Julie and Scott's wedding was beautiful and it was great to see all our friends again. The reception was at Gilbert's and everyone agreed that the food was awesome. Phil had fun bustin' out some moves with the guys and managed to get me on the dance floor for one (slow) song. Exhausted from not sleeping the night before, we headed back to camp.

We were so lazy and tired that we just decided to pack up and head home without even kayaking. But, not before we made a visit to Los Tres Amigos...which I must say, beats Paco's by a mile...We stopped by Grandma Hanel's for a bbq with Rob, Britta, Dad, cousins Lauren, Chris, Jason and his sons for a bit before making it home to unpack and veg out for the night.
Hindsight's 20/20 and if we ever get the urge to opt out for a hotel room...we might just do it after this week-end... =)

A camper... Bob Evans?! This isn't camping! :p Are Michael and I really the only ones anymore who rough it in tents and whatever food we can make over a campfire?? :D
It was great seeing you tonight!
All right -- throwing the slam on Paco's! It is entirely safe to do that on your blog because the man you are slammin' will never see it! Grin
I leave tomorrow to watch Jeff and Jason Packer play soccer at 6:30pm and then the three of us will be golfing with Paco-man on Friday!
This is true Steve...he did leave a comment a while ago, but hasn't been back since...punk! =)
