Belated Easter

So I'll start with the post I was supposed to do days ago. Easter week-end was so much fun. After meeting some of Phil's family for dinner in Frankenmuth, Phil and I joined two other couples from our church at Culver's for social time and icecream. Good times. Then dad came down and stayed the night. Dad and I joined Grandma and Phil for lunch in Birch Run on Saturday afternoon, after which Phil and I went grocery shopping for the week-end and Dad took Grandma home. Mike, Rob, and Britta showed up at the same. We all went to a biking trail in Clio-Phil and Mike biked, Rob and Britta jogged, and I rollerbladed. Then we went home for some hotdogs on the grill-first bbq of the summer-yum!! Then it was nothing but games for the rest of the night.

Easter morning, Dad came over and we all went to church, which was awesome. I enjoyed the sermon because Pastor Dale made the unique point that Easter really is a holiday for non-believers more than believers-it's a time when they learn of Jesus' story and sacrifice. He welcomed those who only attended church on Easter, calling it "their holiday" and that if they only went to church one time a year, this is the best time.

After church, it was home to prepare food for dinner. Grandma brought ham, nut bread, and the most important dish, home made baked beans (to die for!). Dad made two pies-a banana one especially for me-and his famous salsa. Aunt Mad brought a seven layer salad (Lauren made it), relish platter, and a green bean casserole. I provided mashed potatoes, corn, rolls, veggies and friut. Needless to say, we had more than enough. After stuffing our faces, some of us took a walk while the others played Outburst. Uncle Matt and Aunt Deb showed up just in time to join in Outburst. We then played a spirited game of Cranuim. Jason brought the boys (Waylon and Landon) by so we took a minute for a group photo.

Dad bought "baby Whitsel" a singing Easter Bunny and Chick and Waylon and Landon couldn't help but press the button to make them sing over and over...it was the cutest thing! :) After everyone left, Phil and I watched a movie and waited to feel hungry again so we could stuff ourselves, yet again, with all the good leftovers.

And that was Easter 2006...
